Types of Airless Bottles for Cosmetic Packaging

Airless bottles have become one of the most popular solutions in modern cosmetic packaging. Designed with an airless pump system, they protect formulas from oxidation and contamination, making them ideal for skincare and makeup products. Understanding the different types of airless bottles can help brands choose the best option for their products.

  1. By Structure

Piston Airless Bottle – The most common type. A piston at the bottom pushes the product upward with each pump, preventing air from entering the container.

Soft Tube Airless Bottle – Combines an airless pump with a squeezable tube, perfect for lotions and creams.

  1. By Material

Plastic Airless Bottle – Made from PP, AS, ABS, or PETG, these are lightweight and durable for everyday skincare packaging.

PP

Acrylic Airless Bottle – Offers high transparency and a luxurious appearance, commonly used for premium serums and creams. The biggest feature of acrylic airless bottles is their luxurious appearance, and the bottles are usually double layered.

Glass Airless Bottle – Chemically stable and elegant, ideal for high-activity formulations, though heavier and more fragile. Similar to acrylic airless bottles, glass airless bottles are also double-layer, with the inner layer made of PP and the outer layer made of glass. This makes glass airless bottles heavier than plastic airless bottles.

Metal-Shelled Airless Bottle – Aluminum or stainless steel shells provide excellent light protection and a high-end look.

  1. By Shape
Airless bottles come in round, square, oval, or fully customized designs to match brand identity and product positioning.
  2. By Application
They are widely used for skincare products such as serums, moisturizers, eye creams, and sunscreens, as well as for makeup items like foundation and BB/CC creams. Medical skincare and treatment formulas also benefit from airless bottle packagingdue to its hygienic dispensing system.

Choosing the right type of airless bottle not only enhances the shelf life of your cosmetic products but also improves user experience and elevates your brand image. With various structures, materials, and designs available, there is always an airless solution to meet your unique packaging needs.

  1. By Capacity

The capacity of airless bottles used for cosmetics is generally between 5ml-250ml. Glass airless bottles and acrylic airless bottles are generally only 15ml, 30ml, and 50ml, due to their larger volume and higher price, which results in higher costs compared to AS and PP. AS and PP airless bottles have the attributes of being cheap and high-quality, and have more capacity options, making them better choices.

Due to the advantages of airless bottles, we believe they will be widely used in cosmetic packaging in the future. We will also strive to create more and better airless bottles for cosmetic use.
